What are we looking for?

We’re looking for a hands-on, motivated Junior Maintenance Technician who wants to grow into an Artisan or Engineer. You’ll support mechanical and electrical fault-finding, assist with preventative and corrective maintenance, and help keep machines and equipment running safely and efficiently.

What do we expect from the candidate?

A motivated, safety‑minded team player who’s eager to learn, supports maintenance tasks, and pays attention to detail.

The key responsibilities:

• Assist with and learn to carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding and repair.

• Ensure that machines are in working order and preventative maintenance is done to avoid loss of time.

• Assist with planned preventative maintenance checks as per schedule.

• Assist Maintenance Technicians with breakdown (corrective) maintenance

• Contribute to ensuring minimum stock level of consumables and critical spares is maintained

• Develop his/her knowledge of PLCs (if applicable to equipment).

• Work safely with 220V and 380V powered equipment.

• Ensure good housekeeping in the maintenance workshop

• Install, service, repair and maintain existing and new equipment.

• Carry out jobs as per job cards, for completion as soon as possible.

• Perform basic workshop functions (grinding, welding, etc) as and when necessary

• Maintain and improve the visual appearance of all machinery and buildings.

• Do alterations or modifications to plant and equipment, as and when required.

• Perform standby duties when deemed competent enough to do so.

• Maintain plant and equipment in a safe, compliant condition.

• Carry out PTOs and other safety audits.

If you possess…

Must-Have:

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• N3 in Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum of 1 year experience in manufacturing industry.

• Computer Literate in Microsoft applications.

• Chemical industry would advantageous.

• Position requires someone aspiring to become an Artisan or Engineer.
